There's no harm in asking I guess, what I did was buy a butterfly net and went lizard hunting in the backyard. I found my racer there so I figured the ones I catch to feed him would have had the same fate regardless.

So maybe just go catch a few skinks or anything small that you know he'd normally eat then once he gets a little bigger (or if he's already big enough) you can start with pinkie mice.

I've given my racer it's first pinkie today and he didn't go for it but, given a lizard he had no hesitation to gobble it up. Try different things they're known to eat is the best way, in my opinion, once it eats a pink then you can just go and buy them but going out and hunting down food for it seems much more committed.. or crazy. As long as baby eats, all is right with the world.
