Don't forget that there are lots of posts on this subject in the archives.
If you are running Windows XP, go to www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx and download the Image Resizer ... (mid way down on the right).
Once you install it, you can just right-click over an image and choose Resize Image ... you can choose 3 different standard sizes or your own. This only takes a couple of clicks to complete, and there is no need to open any other program.
If you are running an earlier version of windows, you can search for Windows ## Powertoys and you should be able to find it.
