>>I have been looking at cameras and am attracted to this one. Does any one have any experience with it or know anything about it? Seems pretty good based on specs but I'm no camera expert. It will be mainly used to photograph herps at close range. If this does not seem to be the camera for me what one would you all rocommend?

For most normal users a D80 will work just fine. Power users would want to step up to a D200 or greater to get a CF (Compact Flash) memory card rather then the SD slot the D80 offers.

I wouldn't recommend stepping down to a D40 or D60 primarily because of the limited lense selection available.
