try the stone idea... or a dremmel. we have to dremmel our dogs nails--- much safer than clipping--dont have to worry about the quick getting snipped off. with the dremmel- if you shave too deep- you will only nick the quick (lol- that ryhmed) and not cut it-- and gush blood everywhere...

try the stone first--- then maybe a dremmel.
