Also it's lower plastron is solid but the overall plastron has a little give to it, not soft, but not rock hard. A third concern is that it tends to favor it's right eye, not opening it as wide as the other, and its overall face seems a little dry, especially around the mouth, are there medicines I can get or should just take him into the vet or is this generally normal? It seems to be very active when awake, pushing aginst my fingers when I pick him up, and eating fairly well I think, what is normal intake per day of a one yr old? He is eating about a solid 1.5 tablespoons of food a day, I feed him a ground misture of grassland tort food(grasses/weeds/hay) and a little bit of monster diet mixed in, hydrated a bit before feeding. (both foods have calcium and vitamins added) It gets good water cycle, I have watched it drink, it gets a soaking about every other day, and it has discharged white urea right after drinking indicating water cycle in body is good. I use distilled de-ionized water to avoid salt and chlorine problems. I keep it on a large table (3x5ft w/8in sides) with a basking spot of 98 degrees, and gradient temps to a cooler side of 81 degrees, with a shade shelter. It sits on an aspen bed substrate and has two 4 ft florescent desert sun 5's and and a CFL desert sun 10 in the basking corner with a ceramic heater. Ambient humidity sits around 35%. Any ideas, suggestions, or help would be much appreciated, I can post pics if necessary. It is my first tort, and I am reading and studying, but I just like to get as much input as possible to provide the ultimate indoor experience for my pet.(I live in Colorado so outside is not possible until older and proper outdoor housing can be established) [ Reply To This Message ] [ Subscribe to this Thread ] [ Hide Replies ]
