I've lost mine in the house a few times. I've recovered all but two. One was found dead, another never found. Here's my record:
My corn snake hid in the pantry and jackets closet. Was always at ground level. My ball python went to the tanks of my lizards, but the cat sadly killed him nearby.
My AFT geckos were found always on the floor. In the bathroom and living room. My baby gargoyle was found under the sofa.
The thing I noticed is that it always took about three days to find them. They had to start feeling hungry to come out of hiding. And I only found them at night.
I did set up food traps but they never worked. The reason being that the animals had moved too far from them to be aware of their presence.
So my advice is, take it easy. Calm down. Give the animal a few days to be hungry and motivated to come out. Then, look near sources of heat, and watch where you step. Good luck
