A friend of my wife's gave me a mali along with a custom made tank. He's around 3 years old, I think. I'm new to uros but I'm not at all new to reptiles. Anyway, here's the deal, I've had him close to a month and he's eaten very little. The previous owners said he was picky and would only eat greens if he was hand fed. For the first couple of weeks, he would take a bite or two from my hand, but now he's not doing that either. I've tried dandelions, turnip greens, and kale. He was also eating a little of his dry pea/lentil/seed mix on his own, but I haven't seen him do that in a few days either. He also seems to be very inactive.
I used the setup that they had kept him in for years, which consists of a UVB flouro, a large heat lamp, and a couple of smaller ones. That provided a basking spot about 120 and the cooler end of the enclosure was running about 86-95. This was when I first got him. He was more active then, but he wasn't eating much, so I thought it might be TOO hot. So, I turned off two of the additional lights to get the cool end a little cooler. This made the cool end more like 83-86. However, he's eating nothing now, that I can tell and is inactive.
As far as I can tell, he hasn't lost weight. But he also hasn't pooed since I've had him. I know this time of year he could be going into brumation, but I would think he'd still eat more than he is.
Any ideas? I have no experience with these lizards so I don't know what's normal. ----- 0.9.0 Ball Pythons 0.1.1 Leopard Geckos 0.0.1 Egyptian Tortoise 0.0.1 Bearded Dragons
