My opinion is this is probably why this pair was available for sale. Why would someone sell a "proven breeding" pair of ackies versus keeping then, breeding them, and selling babies? These guys were probably, in my opinion, available because of these health concerns. Also if they were kept in crap conditions like you say, its hard to believe they were consistently producing eggs.
