I agree. Haven't they heard of the boy who cried wolf? Do they really want to risk losing credibility just to get some pythons listed? They already have. The question remaining is will the public ever understand how manipulative they were in getting the pythons listed and how much it will affect the public's trust is science on other issues in the future.
