See Blaney's paper on common kingsnakes (a classic). I find it interesting that you describe an intergrade zone perfectly, but do not seem to know what it is. Also, solid Black kings do not occur "everywhere". They only occur in certain places in AZ. You have mentioned "Black cal kings" around LAX, but show no proof of this statement.
