The chameleons were accidentally introduced back in the 70's due to the pet trade. They were considered an invasive species and could mess up the system. But then again most everything from the rats and cockroaches came over when captain Cook discovered the hawaiian island chain. To the mongooses that were supposed to control the rat population and the cane toads to eleviate the coackroaches were intentionally introduced..Everything takes off here and flourishes.
That is why dept of agriculture makes everyone fill out forms while traveling to Hawaii.
The cameleosn are all over now.. They can be shipped back to the mainland. But are not allowed to be transported to other islands. ----- FR quote: "Doing the same things over and over expecting to learn something else, is the definition of insanity"
