Also whats funny is, snakes rarely work the surface no matter what time of year it is. The surface is full of predators, so they must have full operating temps to react to them and seek areas of prey. Species that seek prey on the surface, are what we call common species. Species that have little need for the surface, we consider rare. Thanks for asking those type of questions, their fun. The reality is, you can call it anything you want, just call them to dinner(heatum and feedum)at some point.
