Go ahead and upgrade, just make sure all of the animals needs are met.

I'm not sure how this "don't put a snake in a big cage or it will get scared" rumor got started. If the snake has multiple hides to crawl under/ tuck into it will be fine.

I've had a few wc snakes get noticeably stressed and not eat if not provided a hide, no matter what size enclosure, but i've never had an animal go into a larger cage with hides and have an issue.

Plus with a larger cage you can provide more hide options like cool side dry, cool side humid, warm side dry, etc...

just my take on the subject, i'm sure others might think keeping it in the smallest box possible is best... 100s of ways to look at husbandry.
