Things that immediately come to mind that would pass are probably obvious -- ring worm, fleas...

I had always thought true "diseases" like Feline Aids, etc., can't pass between humans and cats and cats and dogs. Stay within the species.

However, I would think worms might if they are near each other's food dishes or are close and licke each other, etc.

I don't think "Colds" pass. Kitty URIs, Dog Kennel Cough, etc... I think this is probably species dependent.

You will likely have to really watch the worms (ringworm and otherwise) and fleas if you foster.

Others will have a better answer for you.
