EXCELLENT QUESTION!!!

In the past, I had a cat who was definitely a one-person (me) cat, and probably only because I fed him. Ignored the rest of the family and all visitors/friends. He wasn't much of people-lover in general.

I also lived with a cat who loved the kids but wanted nothing to do with the adults. I guess you'd call him a partial-family cat.

As for the cats I live with now, I'd describe them both as family cats. They have different roles for my husband and me though. They look to me for the cuddling and quieter activities, and to my husband for the play and silliness.
