You are wise to take the cats to a vet for a check up, but this really does sound like marking behavior.

From the spelling of the word colour I'm guess that you are not in the United States. But I am hopeful that if you are in the UK or somewhere else that you can find a product called Feliway. After you use an enzyme cleaner to clean where they have peed, you need to spritz a little of that on the same spot. There is also a Feliway plug-in called comfort zone that may help. The website for Feliway is www.feliway.com. If you can find a large pet supply store you might be able to find the Comfort Zone, although again if you are in the UK your electricity is different so they may not manufacture one for DC or 220 volts.

Since they are young, they may work this out without too much other interference on your part.
