I know this is late and you already have your answers by now. But for anyone else coming in, let me tell the story of my baby that I lost to FIP on October 20, 2008.
His name was BoKitty and was 16 months old when he left us. We fought it for a long time and he see-sawed up and down for about a month. Finally, his little body just couldn't take it anymore and we had to have him put down. It was devastating.

I was (and still am) very concerned about Bokitty's brother. We rescued them at the same time and they are litter mates. So far, he's just fine and will be turning 2 in June.

Our vet rescued a kitten that she found that was on the verge of death. She wanted my husband and I to adopt him. I was very concerned about bringing the new kitten into our home so soon after FIP. Well, he was 8 weeks old when we brought him in. He is now 6 months old and doing fine. The vet assures me that he should remain so.

As for Ruger (BoKitty's brother), he's on watch until he's 3.

I let the vet do a necropsy on BoKitty before we had him cremated and it was FIP. I pray that some day this horrible disease can be cured.
