Blessed with not too much body hair so have always just shaved in the shower. Seems like in the dark ages, I tried Nair when it first came out but didn't use it again for whatever reason. Probably no reason to spend the money on it.
The story about the guy reminded me of a man I once knew who used a beard trimmer to keep his chest hair neat. (?) I honestly don't know how a man would stand having his body waxed; sounds masochistic to me. Yikes!
