aquarium tubing generally fits a syringe,since it is a hard rubber cutting at an angle could be sharp,maybe dip in HOT water and dull the edge (or a ligher).As far as smaller diameter tubing, Weed Whacker fuel line is smaller and a type of soft silicone compound
