inverted and for lack of a better term, "vibrating / twitching" individual belly scales at different locations all over the snakes venter. Perhaps the "kinetic energy" creates heat that the snake can shunt to elevate their gestation temperatures to the ideal level for this species.

This was observed in pythons however, most notably Python reticulatus.

I would speculate boas possess such abilities as well, for this behavior has nothing to do with "brooding" a clutch of eggs.

It's done throughout gestation.
