What materials are you thinking?
I thought about building with various plastics (sintra/caltec), but for the size shelf I need I would have to go with a very thick plastic to prevent bowing. All the prices I found made it out of the question.
If you are talking about buying a pre-made rack... I haven't found any that fit my needs. The thing is that I am at a point in my life where I am moving almost every year. Versatility was key in this design.
Also, everyone seems to dislike particle board, and I don't really know why. Its heavy but its durable and if anything happens to it, its cheap and easy to replace. That is another plus of this rack, if something warps, bows,breaks etc its easy to replace just one part.
