two fold John. The anerythristic agalma was from the southern form of the agalma range, Sierra de San Pedro Martir mountains. It was a one-of-a-kind snake found by Paul Lynum back in the mid-90's. This animal was bred to a couple northern form agalmas (Sierra Juarez mountains) due to the unavailability of a female as Martir agalma are rare and extremely difficult to find in their range. What came of this locality hybridization were het anery Juarez x Martir, but unfortunately many of these offspring perished over the years for various reasons. But a few did remain. Unfortunately, the sole anerythristic agalma also met it's demise several years ago as well.

As for the hypoE agalma, that is questioned by few but the evidence suggests (as per my production this year) that the hypoE gene is present. The photos below are evident of this trait and will be 100% proof positive when I raise one of the males and breed back to mom or one of his siblings. Hope this all makes sense.

HypoE dam (also from remaining Juarez x Martir project)

Another shot of her

Her mate (sire, and also from Juarez x Martir project)

Comparison photo of siblings from a clutch of nine -- hypoE to the left and normal sibling to the right. In total, four hypoE offspring and five normal (possible het??)

Another shot

Another hypoE offspring

And another normal sib

Lastly, a pure Martir agalma

As far as production of an anerythristic agalma from the Juarez x anery Martir cross, there may have been some element of outcrossing but how far removed I am not sure. This mating occurred around '96, so the remaining ones are not TOO far removed but have changed hands a few times so one can not be completely sure as to the possibilities. Even with my extensive research there may be a link missing, but the possibility is always there.....a crap shoot. Thanks for looking.
