I don't know if it will help your paper but you are welcome to contact me and i will share my experiences when I had 4 law enfocement agencies come to my door because i had legal snakes.
The Dept of Agriculture, animals control armed F&G and locale police as well as herpetologists and biologists assiting them surrounded my house and told mne they did not need a warrant since what i was doing involved animals and no warrant was neccessary to enter my premesis. Which they did and trampled all over my house, drawers, closets, attic ect. where there were no reptiles.
needless to say they will never be back to my house because what they did was stupid on their part because they thought Florida kings were native to Georgia based on an outdated field guide the zoo herpetologists used. After they left and told me they would be back to remove my snakes (there was to many for them to take all my snakes on that day and they needed to prepare and return with proper truck to remove) i had the opportunity to send info from DNA tests done from PHD Len Kyrsco and after that they just said i am okay 9by phone) and never sent me a letter to confirm anything and just wanted to sweep it under the rug.
I think theyre problem with not giving me anything in writing for a release was they just busted sevral people for having florida kings in GA. they confiscated the snakes and fined the people. After there experience with me they just left the whole thing alone. ...for now at least.
