>> "What got us into this mess in the first place was very greedy irresponsible dealers who didn't care about the animals they were selling, or still don't care, thus these snakes still get dumped. Why cant we work to help regulate these types of dealers at the same time to help regulate the industry we depend on besides fighting the government to do it? Someone has to regulate it, why cant we help out and start working together?"

** Actually, what more realistically got us into this mess in the first place was all the IDIOTS that have acquired the big snakes from some of the greedy, irresponsible dealers, or whatever other means, and have let them go when they get too big to manage, or irresponsibly let them get away from flimsy substandard enclosures they have jury-rigged for their housing, or don't think to make absolutely CERTAIN the huge snake can't get out and kill the kids, etc..,etc...etc... And it has festered to the point now were it is totally out of control with no real single answer for a "real" cure whatsoever.

Unfortunately, it has now come to the point that the general public idiots want to blame the source(the breeders/dealers)since this is much easier, just as gun control people want to blame the gun manufacturer/dealer instead of the idiot criminals that abuses the gun, or in this case, the huge python.

So now it's like trying to put a friggin' small band-aid on a compound fracture in a futile attempt to heal it. Common sense dictates this will never happen, but since most of the general public that doesn't have common sense, views this as a very likely "fix", especially when they know absolutely NOTHING about snakes(nor care to), and wouldn't be bothered in the least about if you could own them or not, it sounds like a great idea.

It all boils down to the fact that most people are complete idiots when it comes to being able to control, or handle things themselves that can possess a possible problem, or threat, or danger to others(or even themselves) until the problem becomes far too large to ignore anymore, and by that point, it is already WAAAY too far out of control..LOL!

See, you can never fix, or heal what has already been damaged.

To me, the only single answer to this would be to never have it be an issue in the first place, and thanks to the idiots that brought this about, there is no single answer on the planet to make it all good again.

So, what would you suggest to "fix" this problem?.

I think it should be more about regulating idiots from having them, or are "going" to get them, rather than the source of them, but since you cannot regulate ignorance and stupidity, what other choice is left for the majority?

In my opinion, it is just a huge "catch-22" now, with no realistic resolution whatsoever. See, the only thing that will "sound" good to the public now is stopping the big snakes at the source. And the real issue should be keeping idiots from getting there hands on them to begin with,......but how do you do that without affecting the non-idiot population?..........hmmm?

You cannot un-invent the gun, or the python, you must have some good sense and control initially right from the start to ensure that things remain running smoothly, so now that this did not happened,.....now what?

So let's just say nothing happened with this thing, I still think people would go WHEW!, that was close!,.......and continue on their merry little way and do EXACTLY as they did before this issue until the NEXT problem hit the fan, that is just the way most people operate, which is extremely unfortunate, because the old saying...."an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure" sure hit it on the head, to bad it didn't happen with the snake thing here though.

This is the problem right there, nobody ever does DIDDLY-CRAP about anything until it is to freakin' late!....EVER!!

And what really pisses me off, is that all this crap the other morons created, will probably trickle right down all the way to my very "dangerous" colubrids too.
