Well, the snake was taken upstairs, and put on a very smoothed-out dark T-shirt on the floor of the upstairs loft where a good amount of filtered light comes in from a big window(not directly on the subject though), then I set the camera for a moderately low "fill flash" as to not wash it out. The tubular shadowed look is called "vignette", and is a feature of many photo programs, but this particular one was one featured in Photobucket itself. There is alot of weird "bells and whistles" you can do to things, it just takes some digging around in it's depths to even discover the things, or they go virtually unnoticed by most people...LOL!
