....They tried to eradicate those, but to no avail after spending countless millions.
I didn't read every single post regarding this, but I think the good ol' South American Cane Toad (Bufo marinus) is responsible for killing MANY animals in south Florida. They have the very same problem with it in Australia. I know for a fact that many snakes and other animals are killed after eating, and even PLAYING with these deadly toads due to their large, very toxic poison glands located behind their eyes that excretes copious amounts of thick, milky white poison when ingested, or molested.
I'm willing to bet it is a major cause of kingsnake, Indigo, and other snake species decline.
I watched one of my moms showdog puppies die a horrible slow death right in front of me in the late sixties when not much was known about this nasty invasive creature.
I've hated those toads with a passion from that day forward, and they are literally EVERYWHERE in south Florida by the countless millions!!. I would hate to think how many animal deaths they are directly responsible for. I remember a documentary on TV that showed dead snakes in Australia with the corpse of Cane Toads still in their mouths. No doubt it is the same scenario in south Florida.
