Most pattern anomolies with colubrids are cases of incomplete dominance. If you bred a striped x normal there would be some anomolous patterns neither normal nor fully striped. But what Gerrit has done breeding his male back to mom(if I have that correct)is to "assuming het". While this will certainly increase the likelihood and quality of the anomaly, I think its too early still to assume that its a recessive gene. Which I think is what he was trying to do. If it were recessive you would have to breed the normals together. If both parents were of that pattern and all babies should be like that if genetic. Very interesting regardless.
