Some may recognize this lil' girl from a while back. She's now a full two years old and pushing 21 inches.......and finally took her fifth fuzzy in a row. It's safe to say she is well on her way to becoming a very fine adult female Sierra de San Pedro Martir zonata agalma. These guys ain't for the faint of heart. But they are, in true form of course, a rarity and quite an animal to behold. Lots of patience and dedication has paid off....

And here are some of the rest of the Martir crew growing slowly but surely....

Two more seasons before it really starts gettin' groovy in this area. For those interested in something like this, be sure to have LOTS of patience and no agenda for a quick turn-around at all. Also be wary of mixed/hybridized garbage that has seeped out from a couple shady sources on the left coast. Sad....but true.

The hardest part is going to be watching this beautiful female shut down come late August and completely refuse food. As typical with many zonata, the prime feeding window from April to August is one of the crucial elements of their overall well-being. Although bittersweet, the regimen keeps you on your toes yet has its' perks.....early shut-down equals early rest after the several month period of diligence in feeding/husbandry. By October it's kick-back time w/ up to 5 months of R and R.

And God said, "Let there be zonata subspecies for all to ponder..."
