It is little rocks basically, ceramic or porcelain might even be clay(can't remember). It is made by Repashy. It's called Super Hatch. I started using it the past couple of years. It works great and you can reuse it. Just bake it in the oven to kill all bacteria. You soak it in water for about 10 minutes and then drain through a cheese cloth. I let mine drain for about 10 minutes and add it to the containers. I set up all the containers at one time and throw them in the incubator. It holds moisture really well and I usually don't have to add any water at all. I also haven't had any problems with mold either.
I had 100% hatch rate last year and so far this year I lost 4 but I don't think that it was from the medium, the eggs were questionable anyway. ----- Jimmy Tintle
