"brooksi" has been done away with in nomenclature. They are all considered to be floridana now.

But hobbiests (rather florida king aficiandos), still refer to the south florida locales as brooksi. Just because the relic parentage populations from that area make them more interesting than the northern part of Florida which intergrade with the eastern kings to the north.

yet in the classifieds and the open market the term "Brooks king" is used for any Florida king as a marketing term. Either just because it sounds better .., or they just don't know any better. But it does not mean they are from south florida unless the breeder/seller has this information and points out the county they are from.
