Now for the naming, correct me if I am wrong but NE phase usually turns the snake "white" and PB phase has a caramel/peanut butter color. Why not call them "White Nuts" or maybe "New Pea's
The New England axanthic is just a line of axanthic brooks founded by breeders in the New England states. It has nothing to do with their locality nor is it a morph.
originall there were two lines of axantics discovered. one was called the Lemke line and the other the NE line. A true NE is kept pure and not outbred. Because it is the orig phenotype that cuses a more white Ghost looking animal. The Lemke line was darker as a baby and a pretty blue when born. But the founding stock had fertility problems. So the lemke line was bred out and has continued being outbred for about 18 years. The Lemke line of animals is where most of the axanthics came from. T
he NEW england line was kept pure by breders because of the locale (old canal stock) and the beautiful ghost like appearance that they turn into adults. ..especially the males! Newborns have a drab appearnace and some even a brownish look. But they turn out georgeous . Problem now that i see is people are selling NE axanthics that are outcrossed and calling them NE axathics. When in fact they are ruined by crossing them with the lemke line. And they should not be called NE axanthics.
Also big price difference between a pure NE axanthic which go for $125 and the Lemkes (generics) axanthic for $20-$35. ----- www.Bluerosy.com
