Well, back in early Feb of (09) myself my wife and a couple friends went herping over in the central valley of Calif about 20 or so miles from Mendoda hoping to find a black bellied aberrant hypermelanistic cal king.

I was the lucky one of the day and flipped a railroad tie to find this litte neo gem.





so as I was checking him out and whatnot and my best friend Aaron says "hey, here is a little normal looking one".I said check the sex and if its a girl I want to keep it cause the one I just flipped is a male.He checked and sure enough it was a little girl.I thought there was a good chance they where siblings as they where just about 15 feet apart and the same age etc....

Here she is the day of capture.





I spent the last two years raising the pair up and to my surprise the female started to ovulate even though she was only about 24 inches long a couple months ago.So,I through the male in with her and figured a couple eggs would be better than a couple slugs even though I hadn't really planed on breeding them til 2012.







Well,she laid 4 huge eggs and they just hatched the last couple days.

I am very happy to report that the normal female turned out to be het and I got two normals and two hyper black bellies.very cool and just wanted to share with you guys.











Anyway, nothing that big but I was excited.Pure locale cal kings and a morph to boot.Doesn't get any better than this.

p.s. I have this same exact senerio with some w/c newport beach cal kings as well and I can't wait for about 10-14 days till that clutch hatches and to see if the female turns out to be het as well.
