In my experience females will usually be receptive to the male shortly after they lay the first clutch, and have regained some strength by eating. If you try too soon, or much later you may miss the window of opertunity. There is a rhythm to it. Many second clutches are being laid while the first clutch is hatching, or close to that. | ||
