The majority of the general public do not like snakes to begin with. More often then not, it's the colorful and unique, designer morph that is often what someone, (who would normally not even THINK about owning a snake) ESPECIALLY children, will stop and look at, and even admit is striking and beautiful...and it's due to the colors and pattern. Without morphs, there would undoubtedly be far fewer "first timers".
The ones of us who grew up catching snakes and other critters are largely the ones who appreciate the phenotypes and their locales...notice I said "us". That's because that's how I started too, and so this is why I too, still maintain a number of normals. But your average joe, without this background is likely to prefer something a little more eye-catching. It's human nature. It's the same in almost every aspect of life, just look around in our modern culture.
I don't understand the conflict here.
