My pyros come out a lot, especially at dusk. The bull snakes also come out, mainly in the middle of the day. The only other snakes I have are a trio of Pacific gopher snakes, and those guys seem to be more shy.
They all have multiple places to hide so I guess they feel secure enough to be seen, even in a house with four cats who look at them occasionally. I have the shyer snakes up higher so they can't see the cats, not that it matters. Female gopher snakes just seem to be shy. The male gopher snake is not shy. The 08 pyros' big tank is on the floor and the cats don't scare them at all. My cats don't tap on the glass or anything, they pretty much just glance at the snakes once in awhile. My male bull snake actually will come out when my partner enters the room. He really likes him! LOL! ----- Bob
