I microwave it, just get a little at a time and place it in a small container or bowl without a cover and nuke it, i usually nuke on high and check it every 20 seconds or so to see how hot the bedding is, if it feels hot enough to burn your finger if you leave finger on it to long then it's done, no mites will survive the heat, you have to keep checking how hot the stuff gets because you don't want to burn it or start any fires, take note at how much time it takes to get hot for additional bowls, then i just let it cool down and it's ready to use
