Some things can no longer be collected from the wild already, like all Mexican herps. Georgia snakes are another example of stuff that can no longer be collected. Utah pyros, Utah milks, Colorado milks; there is a host of stuff that cannot be collected or at least cannot be commercially collected anymore. Other stuff is protected at the state level and only out of staters can commercially breed them. North America is home to some awesome snakes that, I think, are under appreciated. I even like to see people working with generic snakes that typify the species/subspecies they represent. To me a "perfect" normal is much more desireable than an "oddball" with extra wide stripes or whatever.
