Pyros might not be the next big thing, but they are certainly an animal that doesn't get the attention I think it warrants. Normals are as beautiful a North American snake as you can find; Sentz hypos are incredible; there are amels, at least two different hypos, and hypoerythristics. (plus pattern morphs, which i don't find particularly interesting, but that's just me).



Some pyros can be hard to start, but if there were more interest in them there'd be people innovating with lizard-scenting chemicals or composts (right word?) to help with the hard ones. Most of them are easy. They'll breed at two, three's easy, they'll double clutch, etc. And while they'll sometimes grow to four feet our more, most adults can be housed in a lot less space than getula or (whatever Elaphe is called now).



I speak from considerable experience. But to discount any bias, i do not own any at this time (not by choice but due to travel limitations--had to dispose of my Hondo and pyro collection)
