Last year my female pyro mated and produced a fertile clutch of babies without having a post brumation shed. The male had the post brumation shed, though. This year two of my female pyros (different females) have mated without having the post brumation shed, but the male (different male) has had a post brumation shed.
The first shed gives the keeper an idea as to how close the females are to full follicle (unfertilized egg) development. Females appear to reach maximum reproductive receptivity from 3-14 days after this first shed.Bob Applegate

I am waiting on my two bred females to see if they become gravid in spite of not having had this shed.
