When you cool males and females together, you will often see one female choose one male and stick with him. Of course, he will be happy with that as well. This is possibly why the other female may not be as receptive to Mazar as your gravid one was.
BTW, I've never seen mating during brumation, I never knew to watch for it. But I would not doubt that it could happen, especially with montane snakes. I had a zonata be gravid very early in the year, and she was only brumated with the male but separated before the end of January.
