That sounds more like peat moss, which is a type of sphagnum moss. I like the long fibered moss as it doesn't get all over everything. The peat tends to be a powdery mess, and sticks onto things when wet. I use peat moss in gardening applications to improve tilth in soils, but with animals I like something that is cleaner and not prone to turn into powder or dust.
