Given the proper facilities; i.e. a moist sphagnum moss hide (moist paper towels work fine, too) he should shed the rest of the old shed with the next shed just fine. Winter air indoors tends to be very drying. I heat with a wood stove which dries out the indoors but the snakes all have the option of going in their moist hides, whether in brumation or awake.
