Hi Bluerosy. Your right, The tomato frog story was not about being cool. To me it was a lesson. And the lesson was, We love our animals, we work hard to be successful and surely Ernie did that. The lesson was, sometimes our work and passion allows us to hit a homerun. That is be the firt of reproduce a rare valuable species.
In Ernies case, he hit the homerun, but did not run the bases. The last base, home plate(baseball season now) Is to make money. He did not make any money.
Making money is a good thing, the american way. And it has not a dang thing to do with love of the animal, passion, education or husbandry. Its simply the reward for doing or having all those and more. Best wishes
