Well, I fed the baby kingsnake last night for the 1st time. I know it's still soon after purchase, but he was due for a feeding (he either didn't eat last week at the store or they didn't record it). So, he was hungry..I dethawed the pinky mouse and put Jax (the snake) in a smallish rubbermaid contained. I want to hand feed him for as long as possible so I held the mouse out and he instantly struck at it and ate it. I'll keep an eye on the cage and make sure he doesn't reguiritate it back up.



Later that night I went to check on him and found he was missing....I dug around in the cage a bit before finding a tiny hole on one side. I didn't think he could reach the top, but I started hunting through the house thinking he escaped. I searched for a good half hour (flash lights in all the dark areas...the whole deal!) before I finally went back and thoroughly searched his entire cage...found him buried deep down in the bark under one of his hide spots. I had no idea they buried themselves like that! I thought that was a corn snake thing to do. Oh, and I went and covered that hole...just in case. He is sealed in better than Alcatraz!
