rtdunham has a point and I agree...and I wonder if I know who this is as well - could it be a friend of King Neptune of the Missouri Department of Conservation fame?!

Anyway, in fact, I use a digital scale for weight (I weigh all my snakes this way yearly) and I've use that little freeware SerpWidget thing to measure my larger kings; I get my kings when they are "sleeping" or otherwise lethargic, quickly place them on a flat surface and then shoot from above - it works great if you get right above them. Then you can use the SerpWidget and it is a cinch.

I agree about hard facts...it's so easy to look at my largest king moving around on my bed (no jokes, please ), an F1 SE Georgia beast, and say "Holy #hit, he's 6'!" But I know better because I used the SerpWidget on him and he's ca. 68" (give or take an inch) and he weighs 4.77 pounds to be exact.

But when I pull him out of his cage and see the size I'm still tempted to "add" some size to him.

As far as the person asking about the Orlando King on the TNC preserve...where am I going to get a pic?! Wait, I got it...I'll fly down tonight, snap a shot and get back with you guys tomorrow LOL If you're ever in the area (anyone) and aren't going to Disney or some crappy place like it, stop by and look at him - I saw him in November, 2002 so unless he's died he's still there and the biggest king I've ever personally seen.

As far as pics, I've seen none larger than Keith's lover (LOL)...uhhh, I mean friend, Mike Burns holding Mr. Nasty, that monster Florida king.

The question still stands unanswered - who's got in there presence the largest king? No pics of folks holding them up by the back of their neck off the ground (!) or using tape unless it's damm clear the snake is not curled too much, and by using a reliable scale.

I'll do my best to take a pic of my larger snakes from above and post it with the SerpWidget measurments on it (if I can figure it out). rtdunham is correct in that it's easiest to use for one person and very accurate.

Bring it on boys and girls!

Peace.

-John
