a tip i've posted elsewhere: buy a pair of gardening gloves and wear them in the beginning. then YOU are not afraid, and i think that's communicated to the snake, as it is with most animals. Plus you'll learn what's bluff and what's not. And if it perceives you're not deterred by its posturing, it may drop the pose. All in all, it's a good way to get started with an animal like this. Before you know it, you might r3ealize, hey, i don't need these gloves any more...!
