Usually, I find them near water. Of the ones I've found here in FL, all have been within 20 yards or so of a canal, stream, or some source of water. In Georgia, I find them under tin around farmlands...many times far from from water. I would suggest looking in the Spring around old abandoned barns that have tin lying on the ground. Search when it's cool...around 50-60 degrees as they'll be underneath warming up as the sun heats the tin. Once it hits 70-80, the tin gets too hot and snakes go underground to keep cool because the tin gets very hot if it's out in direct sunlight. I would imagine one could find them the same way in the Fall as it starts to cool off but I haven't done much herping in Georgia during that time of year. I plan on doing that this year though so I hope to have some god luck. Anyway, if you find anything, I'd love to see some pics. Good luck!
