Just ran across this forum and thought I'd say hello. I'm an East Texan (live in Nacogdoches, raised in Mt. Pleasant) and I love all our native creepy crawlies. My wife and 3 year old daughter love to go out on the backroads after it rains and look for snakes and frogs. We don't have the space or resources to be able to keep any alive and happy in captivity, but we love looking at 'em.
My favorite herps are lizards and salamanders. Like everybody else, I miss seeing the horned lizards we used to have up in N.E. Texas. I haven't seen any six-lined racerunners (we called 'em sand racers) in several years, either. They were a bunch of fun to chase. Has anybody seen either of those two lizards in East Texas recently?
