Back wall placement is easier to construct. No routing of shelves necessary. However, back heat only works well in rooms that aren't too cold. Depends on the species being kept of course.



Belly heat works better for larger snakes or if the rack is in a cold room.



I've used both. I like back heat because of ease of rack construction. Even in a cool room, back heat can work if you insulate the heck out of the back wall of the rack.
