I don't use pine shavings or aspen for neonates. To easy for them to have compaction problems at that smaller size. Thats why I use napkins or paper towels.



A far as adult snakes I use the pine shavings for 25 years with no problems and it a lot cheaper than aspen. I pay $4.00 a bale for pine. However if money was not an issue I would use aspen.
